KVM VPS hosting in India:
a real virtual machine, not a container.
Every URLStart Cloud VPS is a KVM virtual machine: its own kernel, its own disk, any operating system, custom ISOs, and resources the hypervisor reserves for you. From ₹584 a month in a Tier IV datacenter in Noida, Delhi NCR.
What is a KVM VPS, and why does it matter?
- TL;DR
- KVM (Kernel-based Virtual Machine) gives each VPS its own kernel and virtual hardware — unlike container-based VPS (OpenVZ, LXC) that share the host kernel
- You can run any Linux, Windows Server, BSD, or mount your own ISO; Docker, kernel modules, custom firewalls and VPNs all work
- Resources are reserved by the hypervisor: your vCPU and RAM cannot be borrowed by a neighbour
- Nine sizes from ₹584/month annual, in a Tier IV datacenter in Noida, Delhi NCR
“VPS” covers two very different things. A container VPS shares the host kernel, so you cannot load kernel modules, run Docker cleanly, mount ISOs or choose your own OS. A KVM VPS is a complete virtual machine: own kernel, own virtual disk and NIC, any operating system. All URLStart Cloud VPS plans are KVM, which is why Windows, Docker, WireGuard, Proxmox-style nesting and custom ISOs work the way they do on a physical server.

KVM plans. Same hypervisor on every size.
Pick RAM; vCPU and NVMe scale with it. Resize in place without reinstalling.
Most deployed
What KVM lets you do that containers do not.
Any operating system
AlmaLinux, Ubuntu, Debian, Rocky, Windows Server, FreeBSD — or upload an ISO and install exactly what you need.
Kernel modules and Docker
Docker, Podman, WireGuard, custom kernels and sysctl tuning work because the kernel is yours.
Real isolation
A neighbour’s crash or exploit cannot reach your kernel. Container escapes are not a concern.
Reserved resources
The hypervisor pins your vCPU and RAM; there is no burst-and-steal model.
Snapshots and rescue mode
Snapshot before a risky change; boot a rescue image if a config locks you out.
Still fast to deploy
Full virtualisation, about 60 seconds to root. Resize later without a rebuild.
Workloads that need KVM.
Docker and Kubernetes nodes
Containers inside your own kernel, with cgroups and overlay storage working properly.
VPN and network tools
WireGuard, OpenVPN, custom iptables — kernel-level networking.
Windows workloads
RDP, IIS, MSSQL on the same KVM nodes.
Custom distributions
NixOS, Arch, Alpine, or anything you have an ISO for.
Game servers
Steam games and Minecraft with the exact Java or runtime you want.
Databases
PostgreSQL and MySQL with tuned kernels and NVMe.
From order to root.
Pick a size
Nine KVM sizes, 4 GB to 64 GB. Resize in place later without a reinstall.
Pay in INR
UPI, card, net banking or PayPal. GST invoice with our UP GSTIN.
Root in about a minute
Credentials and dedicated IPs by email. Free migration from your current host if you want it.
KVM vs OpenVZ/LXC containers.
| Container VPS | KVM VPS (URLStart) | |
|---|---|---|
| Kernel | Shared with the host | Your own |
| Operating system | Host-approved Linux templates | Any Linux, Windows, BSD, custom ISO |
| Docker | Often restricted or nested-only | Native |
| Kernel modules, VPN | Usually blocked | Yes |
| Resource guarantee | Burstable, oversold | Dedicated vCPU, reserved RAM |
| Isolation | Process-level | Hardware-level |
| Price | Often lower | From ₹584/mo |
One network. Owned edge, scrubbed transit.
Traffic enters through redundant edges with DDoS scrubbing in the path, crosses a 10 Gbps core, and lands on our hardware in our Tier IV datacenter in Noida. Every plan gets the same path.
